Higlobe Adds Lightning Payment Option Powered by Voltage to deliver cross-border payments at the lowest cost guaranteed

Higlobe, a global payments platform built for professionals and businesses receiving money from the U.S. and Europe, today released a new payment option powered by Voltage that will make it easier for U.S.-based payers to send cross-border payments using Lightning-enabled wallets and apps.
The new feature is designed for the reality of modern cross-border earning: freelancers, contractors, creators, small businesses, and families often move money across multiple apps, and on timelines that traditional bank rails were not built to serve. With Higlobe’s new payment flow, a payer can open a Higlobe payment link, choose a Lightning payment option, and complete the payment through a Lightning invoice. Higlobe then receives the payment through Voltage’s Lightning infrastructure and credits the recipient through the Higlobe platform. The result is a simpler way to receive money from people in the U.S. without asking the payer to initiate a bank transfer or pay with a high-cost card option.
“Higlobe was built because global workers deserve to keep more of what they earn,” said Teymour H. Farman-Farmaian, CEO and Co-Founder of Higlobe. “By adding a Lightning payment option powered by Voltage, we are making it easier for people in the U.S. to send money in a way that feels familiar to them, while giving our customers lowest cost guaranteed funds through Higlobe.”
The launch comes as earning patterns are changing across the U.S. and around the world. Public research from Block and Cash App has described the rise of the “modern earner:” people whose income no longer arrives from one predictable paycheck, but instead comes from hourly work, freelancing, gig work, small businesses, creator income, and other sources. For these workers and their families, payment access is not only about moving money. It is about matching the speed and flexibility of how people already earn.
Higlobe’s own recently published Global Tech Talent Report: Latin America found that a large majority (87%) of LATAM contractors work with US companies and earn an average of 66% more than those serving non-US markets. Higlobe’s report also shows that a majority of contractors working for US companies are highly skilled professionals, often working in the tech industry. 49% of survey respondents were software engineers, for example, and 76.3% of respondents had 6+ years of experience working in their field.
“As more contractors based outside of the U.S. find work with U.S. companies, it’s important for them to receive payments with the lowest cost guaranteed,” added Teymour H. Farman-Farmaian. “Higlobe’s Voltage-powered payments makes that possible.”
“What makes this story powerful is that Bitcoin and Lightning do not need to be the headline for the end user,” said Damian Donia, Head of Business Development at Higlobe. “The payer can use a familiar payment app, the recipient can use Higlobe, and the payment can settle in seconds behind the scenes. That is the kind of experience people expect from modern financial products.”
Voltage provides the Lightning infrastructure that powers the new flow. By using Lightning as an open, interoperable settlement rail, Higlobe can support near-instant payment movement while abstracting the complexity away from payers and recipients.
“The best payment infrastructure disappears into the customer experience,” said Bobby Shell, VP of Marketing at Voltage. “Higlobe is showing what that can look like for cross-border payments: a familiar front-end experience for the payer, instant settlement behind the scenes, and a better path for global professionals to access their money.”
For Higlobe, the new payment option expands an existing product suite that includes USD and EUR receiving accounts, local withdrawals, card access, and stablecoin-powered payment infrastructure.
